I LOVE that you talked about textiles! I've been always interested in them, I remember that when I was around ten or eleven I was already deciding which fibres and colours to wear in the summer, because I wanted to be as cool as possible in the heat. Now years later I'm knitting a tanktop while watching this video, it's with a loose stitch to keep myself cool, but it's in a white, pink and green, textured yarn, so it's still fun and interesting to wear :) and as always thank you for being so inclusive with your examples, it shows that everyone is beautiful in these outfits and it helps a lot of people to see these tips on a body that looks close to their own body <3

As someone who lives in a country that is very hot most of the year, YESSS the best thing to spice up outfits in the heat are accesories! Hats, sunglasses, kerchiefs and bags, of course, but also jewelry and hairstyles, like Liz said ❤ Watches and anklets are staples for me. You can also play with your lipstick colors and styles! Makeup is tricky in hot weather because of the sweat and humidity, but lips are safe from that! And we have really good longwear lip products nowadays. The general rules for me, dry vs humid heat: For dry heat and lots of sun/UV, like in spring, go for dark or thick but breathable, airy loose fabrics. That's what people in deserts do. The airflow will keep you cool and the dark colors protect from UV. Denim is a great fabric for this weather because it will also protect from UV but it's not hot because it's made of cotton. Also carry an umbrella and hat everywhere, they're amazing for sun protection (get an opaque umbrella designed for sun protection when possible too!). The sole fact that you're not under direct sun will keep you cooler. Always seek shade! And for humid heat, the least amount of clothes the better, tbh. Shorts, breezy dresses and sleeveles tops, etc. Sports fabric or natural fibers are great for sweat. Honestly if you want to wear swimwear as normal clothing they work amazingly well 👌 Just live your life like you're on the beach mamma mia style 😅 Cotton and linen are breathable but they dry slowler than synthetic sports fabrics. Thin, sheer fabrics are tour friends. Thin breathable overshirts are great to cover from the sun as you go from one shade place to another. You'll probably also have lots of sun, but sometimes there's also rain so the heat and UV isn't as bad. Still, umbrellas and sunglasses are amazing. Hats can be tricky as you'll get sweaty. Try a natural fiber one like a traditional woven hat or visor type hats. Avoid plastic shoes as they'll get very sweaty and hot (avoid vegan/fake leather). Think rattan or leather sandals or fabric breathable shoes instead. And make sure to wear sunscreen, people!! Find one you enjoy using and lather it on whatever uncovered skin. Skin cancer is no joke ☀️

I just discovered your channel and I've been loving all of your videos so much -- watching you have fun with fashion and walk through how you're thinking about it has been like a million lightbulbs going off in my brain. I've been realizing I felt kinda unsure about a lot of my clothes but feeling reeeeally resistant to the urge to buy new things because they are all comfy and functional and I absolutely HAVE clothes. Seeing you so often (almost every video I've watched) styling things you already own and taking inspo from pictures but playing (!!) around with it and modifying and layering and being so joyful with it has been... so cool. Just - something about all the points you hit, how you emphasize stylistic and literal comfort, and the way you sometimes note how you wish it were a little different but that this is what you have and it's also pretty cool is --- SO refreshing. I also just love your personal style and am getting so many ideas. I literally ran to my closet to see how I could layer, pin, tuck, squish, and noodle things into new combos and shapes. I feel full of joy!!! I can't thank you enough!

My fave way to accessorize in the Summer is a cute pedicure, sandal, and an anklet. Ankle bracelets are uncomfortable other times in the year, but are so fun in the Summer.

My mom once got me a very similar plaid shirt with sparkly threads in it but in lemon yellow and in my attenpt to style it in a way that won't look like a teenage skater boy (not that there's anything wrong with teen skater boys it's just that I prefer more girly looks) I went for oppositw aesthetic for other pieces in the outfit and that's how I ended up pairing it with very popular now white midi dress and a little bit more interesting version is to pair it with pastel peach gingnam midi dress. To tie it all together I throw on new balance 530 style sneakers (cause I don't have nb 530 in particular) and with a tote bag the fit looks unexpectedly refreshing and interesting both in colours and in prints

thank you for including so many different body types in the reference photos! it seems like a small ask but as someone that’s not what the world sees as the “ideal body type” it’s easy to get discouraged seeing outfits on the same shapes of ppl. i really appreciate it <3

This is funny to me because I only wear navy, burgundy, grey and black but I had no idea these were all trending. I will say though I hate business casual/office core clothes so these colors can be worn in a more fun way I promise

Id add earrings here on the list! Personally, they are the only accessories I can really wear when the weather is making me sweat. With bags, you wouldnt want a backpack as it can make you sweat, so I prefer tote bags if you dont carry a lot of heavy stuff with you. And for shoes, if youre gonna be out in the sun, better to wear socks w sandals so your feet can be protected by the sun

to me, even cotton can be too warm when it's 34° outside, but silk always works wonders! it almost feels like you aren't wearing it, but you get coverage (from the sunlight too!).

Another reason to avoid synthetic fabrics in summer is that smells somehow get trapped in synthetic fabrics, which makes them remain even after laundering. You can fix it by letting the garment soak in a water-vinegar mixture and washing them afterwards, but that's a process you'd have to repeat every once in a while, while I never have to do it with my cotton tees! I do prefer to wear performance fabrics for sports-related activities, though.

One thing with sunglasses - always check if they have UV filter because otherwise wearing them in sunny day may damage your vision in the long run!

My top tips as a girlie from an all year round hot & humid place : cute water bottles! I have different insulated water bottles, some with stickers some without, and fill them with a hefty amount of ice before leaving the house.

Actually while regular fast fashion polyester fabrics are horrible for warm weather, it’s not actually true that natural fibers always are the best. Cotton is actually not very breathable at all (it’s a huge faux pas to wear on a hike etc),and there are loads of techical synthetics that are made for transporting moisture off your body and then dry the fabric quickly. Wool is actually one of the very best materials for transporting moisture off your body, it stays almost dry and doesn’t smell. Although for fashion there is not many options for cute styles but there should be!

i'm a "hair bandana year round" type of gal but i love that they're popular now bc people are getting so creative with them!! the only other summer fashion must i hold myself to is that my purse/bag has to be big enough to fit my water bottle and at least a little bottle of sunscreen. staying hydrated/burn-free is a big part of summer comfort to me!

First time someone mentioned scrunchies. I wear them at work almost every day since heat started (changing with cute clips) and they add so much to the outfit. I have so many colors that match majority of my wardrobe they are so fun to play with

i live in a hot and humid place all year round and wearing linen undergarments like a shift /undershirt /cami and undershorts is way better for me than wearing a little clothing as possible. It wicks the sweat away and becomes your second layer of skin cooling mechanism. I also love those front tie tops that have holes it lets in air so nicely. And I second that overalls is so perfect when it doesn't cinch in your waist

Thanks for promoting cotton and long flowy skirts. I live where it's regularly 110 in the summer, and I practically live in cotton, flowy sundresses (plain cotton, lightweight cotton knit, cotton gauze, and cotton seersucker). I find I need a lightweight layer often though as the a/c is so cold in many places. My favorites are a cashmere cardigan (fits in most bags) or a cotton gauze button-up shirt with sleeves. I do literally live in my Birkenstocks. I have never understood how people can wear real shoes and socks (and even boots!) in the summer. As usual, this is a great video.

As a sweaty gal it has been life changing to realise how severely polyester was doing me dirty. The difference between being kinda sweaty and gross by late afternoon vs 10mins into the day is crazy. And it was defo subscribing to your channel and your vocal hate of polyester that made me really evaluate every polyester item I wore and realise they were never comfy. Currently gradually phasing them out as I find natural fibre alternatives 2nd hand. Thanks for ur service 🫡

Wool can work for hot weather too! The important thing to pay attention to is the weight of the fabric. Yes, wool is often used for warm winter clothes, but it can come in different weights just like cotton. Since it's a natural fiber, a light-weight wool can be a nice breathable option for summer as well!

For those that like wide belts or corset belts but are too warm, I recommend Mexican cotton wide belts. They’re normally less than 10$ and are super light weight and breathable and come in so many colors. They can either be solid or patterned Also, instead of layering with fabric, layer with jewelry

I live where it's regularly above 100 in summer 🤮 , and I burn easily. Find ways to get air between you and your fabrics. I often wear button-ups or thin cotton cardigans mostly unbuttoned, and I look for items with vents, side slits, mesh sections, pleating, buttons in the back, or "tulip" construction (two pieces of layered fabric that split out). These types of things help so much with cooling and shade and limit fabric touching your skin. And depending on the fit, they really don't have to be super revealing if you're not wanting that.
